As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, we reflect on two decades filled with dedication, innovation, and service excellence. Most importantly, we honour the people—both staff and customers—who have been integral to our journey. Since our founding in 2004, GT-EX has transformed from a modest start-up into a leading player in the express transport industry. Through many challenges and triumphs over the years, we’ve remained steadfast in our mission to keep our customers’ moving. It’s been a remarkable journey that we are incredibly proud of, and it’s just the beginning.

A Journey of Growth and Resilience

Our journey began in 2004 with a vision to provide reliable and efficient transport solutions to both SMEs and major corporate clients. We identified a niche that legacy transport companies had overlooked: unmatched reliability, better online experiences, paired with a commitment to service excellence – this would be our point of difference in a highly competitive market. Professional services, financial services, media & production, alcohol & beverage and many other industries soon learned the importance of a strategic partner like GT-EX and how the quality of our service would allow them to focus on the more important things  – the word spread and GT-EX grew fast.

When reflecting on pivotal moments over the decades, many challenges shaped the company, however two situations tested the resolve of the company more than any other.

The Global Financial Crisis hit us hard in our third year, 2007. Despite the immense financial strain, we made a commitment to retain our entire nation-wide team. Many of our employees had young families relying on their income, and supporting them through this period was paramount. This decision embodies the true heart of GT-EX: family and community are at our core. The group rallied together, showing true grit and determination, and we emerged stronger than ever.

Fast forward to the COVID-19 pandemic, 2020, when the world was turned upside down, GT-EX would be tested again. Our industry was deemed essential, and we had to strategise on how to continue operations safely. With drivers fitted with PPE, on-site staff working remotely, and our leadership team hitting the road themselves, we managed to keep our customers moving. As COVID progressed sending volumes tripled, presenting logistical challenges that we met head-on, from the bottom of the company to the top, the team banded together to do whatever it took to maintain customer continuity. The GT-EX team showed incredible resilience, innovating both our internal and customer-facing technologies, scaling operations, and building stronger operational procedures to handle the increased demand on staff and their safety. This period forged a stronger culture that has allowed us to scale in the years since.

Our team and culture are the heart of GT-EX. They enable us to provide the service our customers expect and make coming to work a fulfilling experience. We are proud of our team members, some of whom have been with us for over a decade, and we welcome the new faces as growth continues.

Transport is an industry with countless moving parts, all coming together to produce a seamless experience. From missed scans and vehicle breakdowns to unexpected delays and logistical hurdles, our team handles each challenge with professionalism and positivity. We are proud to maintain a 98% on-time running rate each year, a testament to the hard work and dedication of our nationwide team, from drivers to account managers and customer service representatives.
